BACKSTAGED is one of eight episodes in “GIGA 8,” a collaboration between the Class for Moving Image at the University of the Arts Berlin and the Fashion Design Department at Burg Giebichenstein Halle. Co-directed by Mika Baum and Philipp Conrads in close collaboration with fashion designer Mira Lu Haselhof, the film stars Gigi Spelsberg as GIGA.

When GIGA enters the backstage area to rest, her private retreat quickly becomes a space of exposure. Drawing from reality TV, behind-the-scenes formats, and gossip culture, the film reflects on society's hunger to consume vulnerability. It examines how privacy erodes under continuous visibility, turning a intended refuge into another stage where the public and private collapse.
